This paper examines the social change that confronted Jewish immigrants to the United States. Two primary sources are investigated: These sources are Mary Antin's "The Promised Land" and Jonathan Sarna's "People Walk on Their Heads: Moses Weinberger's "Jews and Judaism in New York".
