This paper discusses the FSC and its criteria for evaluating applicants wanting to acquire membership. The FSC promotes increased socially responsible forest management practices through trilevel criteria. More and more people are becoming aware of the impacts on the environment due to irresponsible forestry and deforestation, particularly the depletion of the rain forests.
