Hysteria, Too-Strong an Alliance Responsible for Europe Plunging Into War in 1914
This paper touches upon the political climate under Bismarck in late 19th century Germany, and the alliances he constructed as peacekeeping efforts. These alliances differed from the Concert System, which maintained peace in a rapidly industrializing and prospering Europe. Germany's commitment to Austria-Hungary would ultimately bring about its decision to declare ware on Russia and France, leading to World War I.
