This paper will explore the issue of pornography from a feminist perspective. I particular, we will look at the cause and effect of censoring pornography and how it can put women in danger. We will examine a rift in the feminist movement, which is centered on this issue of pornography. We see that since the mid-1980s some radical feminists, who are calling for anti-pornography laws, are standing alongside people who once were their archenemies: namely conservatives and religious fundamentalists. Many feminists believe that this phenomenon threatens the well-being of women in many ways, and in this paper, we will outline some of these threats. Some threats that we will examine are: (1) How a new definition of pornography leads to a disintegration of choice; (2) How the argument that there is a correlation between porn and a general societal violence against women affects the general freedom and liberation of women.
