This paper studies the use of peyote in the religious ceremonies of Huichol tribe. Huichol Indians in Latin America use this controlled drug during their religious rituals because of its psychoactive properties. Peyotism also invaded North America during the 20th century and the use of this plant as a drug increased dramatically here during the 60s decade when hippies experimented with various drugs in their quest for an alternative lifestyle. Peyote is an important part of Huichol rituals because it forms the Trinity, of which, Fire and Deer are the other two components. 7 pgs, bibliography lists 8 sources.
