Original Utopians envisioned an ideal society in which unequal distribution of resources and social injustice would be removed. The vision was more ridiculed than appreciated and since then any unrealistic and ambitious idea has been described as utopia. However, the search for an ideal society has never stopped. In the west, the ideal society has long been equated with affluence. In recent ideas, a utopian society is a small community, seeking self-sufficiency, and harmony with nature.
