Sociology: Understanding Positivism and Functionalism within Cultural Influences on African American Society in America
In this paper we can observe sociological approaches that help present the problem of gun deaths and violence related to gang violence, and how the media has made violence a center stage for a lost African American identity. With gang life being glorified on MTV and in other major TV programming, surely there is a connection that vilifies the need to address socio-economic problems that influence young minorities out onto the streets, and away from the moral family unit.
