Yjis three page undergraduate paper examines the issue of magnetic pole reversal. The author notes that magnetic pole reversal is believed to have happened many times throughout EarthÂ’s long existence, and could take place once again within twelve-hundred years. During the next magnetic pole reversal, Marusek (2004) expects that in addition to global weather changes, a weak magnetic field condition will occur as the magnetic poles reverse and will last for a few centuries, during which the infrastructure of modern society will experience various forms of stress. Electronics, communications, and power grids will likely suffer negative effects in the form of electrical power outages and communication interruptions, and electronic circuitry will be damaged throughout the world.
