Love Goes Bad Between Iago, Desdemona, and Othello.

SUMMARY: Juxtapose the relationships in Shakespeare’s Othello. Love is not always enough and this can be clearly seen when you compare the relationships in this play. Although Desdemona and Othello love each other there love is not one of trust. In fact, Othello trusts Iago more than he does his own wife. When you compare the characters in the play, love is not the essential ingredient between any of the players. Power is important for Iago, Cassio, and Othello. Excitement and adventures are important to Desdemona. Jealousy eventually destroys Desdemona and Othello. Jealousy is an emotion that destroys whatever love there may be in a relationship. When you compare the characters in Shakespeare’s Othello, love may be apparent between Iago and Othello as much as love is important to Desdemona and Othello. Perhaps Iago is jealous of the love between Othello and Desdemona.
