Christian Reality

The Christian reality is one shaped and determined not just upon the sensory-based world, but upon a belief system founded on the faith that God created the world, the universe, and all the systems at work within them. This reality, then, is markedly different from that of the scientific view alone. What believers have is a combination of ancient metaphysics, modern science, theology that has changed markedly over the past two millennia, and a popular culture that is divided over modern evangelism. The Christian reality views the world, all of the molecules, inspirations in art, lifeforms, etc, as having been created or inspired by God. This, then, is in very basic terms what it is meant to “look” for or “see” God in “things”. The modern Christian’s reality is indeed based, at least sub-consciously, upon an underlying “awareness” of God in everything (Hasker, 21). Therefore, depending upon the depth of the faith and the level of literalism in Biblical interpretation, the very fabric of reality itself is either a self-continuing creation, or the present whim of God. It is the purpose of this paper to examine the Christian Reality from the view of metaphysics, experience, and the myths and rituals of this religion.
