Drama Analysis: Understanding Psychology in A Dolls House by Henrik Ibsen
In this paper we have analyzed the sociological and personal aspects of why Nora left Torvald in "A Doll's House", but it is the psychology of self-identity that truly forces Nora leave. The Freudian aspects of penis envy in relation to her unconscious rebellion relate her identity as a housewife. Clearly, she is not meant to be a housewife, but since she has not real perspective of her identity, she unconsciously leaves without understanding the deeper connotations of self. This is why Nora is more psychologically inclined to leave, since he is unaware of the Freudian tenants explained in this study.
